Firostefani

In Greek “stefani” means “crown”. Firostefani is the "crown" of Fira

One of most beautiful villages of Santorini. Located just half a kilometer away from Fira, the capital of the island.

The "crown" of Fira has rightly earned its name as the village’s traditional white houses circle the island's capital. The cliff is so steep, that anyone standing here is transfixed in awe. The view to the Aegean blue sea, the volcano and the nearby islands is stunning.

Embraced by the Caldera, the buildings at Firostefani have wonderful architecture and combine white and blue. It is known for its spectacular views, its churches, its cave houses and its narrow streets. Firostefani has a thriving nightlife with restaurants for every palette, cafes, and shops, but also offers unique moments of relaxation and tranquility overlooking the caldera.

The walk from Fira to Firostefani and then to Imerovigli along the edge of the caldera, is one of the most beautiful walks you will make in your life.

It also worth visiting the Petros M. Nomikos Conference Center, where you will see three-dimensional reproductions of the frescoes from the Akrotiri archaeological site. Aghios Nikolaos Monastery has a historical interest of its own. It was founded in 1651 and is located between Firostefani and Imerovigli.
